Zangardi took on the executive role effective July 15, the King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based health system said in a news release. The executive will report directly to UHS President and CEO Marc Miller, according to the release.
She will be responsible for HR across UHS’ portfolio, which includes 27 inpatient acute care hospitals, 333 inpatient behavioral health facilities and more than 40 outpatient facilities. In total, UHS employs approximately 96,700 employees.
Prior to working for UHS, Zangardi spent 11 years in the casino industry, where she served as vice president of administration at Mohegan Sun Pennsylvania.
She succeeds Gerry Johnson Geckle, who is retiring following a 50-year career, the past 13 of which were at UHS.
The for-profit health system most recently reported a net income of $261.8 million for the first quarter of 2024 — up from $163.1 million last year — on a net revenue of $3.8 billion.
UHS will next report earnings on July 25.
