Name: Sarah Hatchett
Previous title: Interim chief information officer, Cleveland Clinic
New title: Chief information officer and senior vice president, Cleveland Clinic
Hatchett assumed Cleveland Clinic’s CIO position effective Thursday.
The executive previously led the Cleveland-based health system’s electronic health record transformation program and IT integration initiatives at several hospitals joining the Clinic, according to a news release.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, Hatchett held leadership roles at NYC Health + Hospitals, Sutter Health and Epic.
Hatchett will oversee the myriad of IT initiatives underway at Cleveland Clinic. The nonprofit provider has previously partnered with Verizon, Palantir and IBM to test how technology can be leveraged to improve patient care.
She steps into the role as the clinic’s financial performance continues to rebound from a rocky 2022.
This week, the system released its first-quarter financials, reporting a $50.2 million operating gain, up from the same period last year’s $32.3 million.
However, the operator did see a decline in investment returns during the quarter, which decreased from $314.2 million to $275.2 million. The dip dinged Cleveland’s bottom line, driving its net gain down from $335.5 million in 2023 to $332.8 million this year.
