Perry will take on the CEO role on June 30 as longtime chief executive Peter Fine retires after 24 years of service, the Phoenix-based health system said Tuesday.
She previously served as chief operating officer and president at Banner for nearly three years. In that role, Perry led Banner through a significant wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and its subsequent recovery efforts, according to the news release.
Prior to joining Banner, Perry held executive roles at Morris Plains, New Jersey-based Atlantic Health, Baltimore-based LifeBridge Health and Mount Sinai Medical Center Miami Beach, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Perry will provide a technology-forward, people-centered approach to the CEO role, said Anne Mariucci, chair of the Banner Board of Directors, in a statement accompanying the release.
Fine will stay on as CEO Emeritus through 2025 to advise Perry and the board, according to the announcement.
Banner operates 30 acute-care hospitals and three rehab hospitals across six states, according to its website. It also operates an insurance arm, urgent care and outpatient surgery facilities and home health services.
In 2023, the health system reported a net gain of $895.5 million, compared to a net loss of $447.5 million in 2022.
