Nonprofit health system CommonSpirit announced a new chief operating officer on Friday.
Effective Monday, Richardson will be responsible for strategic and operations-related leadership for the Chicago-based health system, which operates 140 hospitals across 23 states.
Richardson is also tasked with executing on the the system’s revenue and market share targets, according to a Friday release. CommonSpirit reported an operating loss of $441 million and a net loss of $738 million due to rising expenses in its first fiscal quarter 2024.
Richardson replaces COO and president Marvin O’Quinn, who announced his retirement in August. She will report to CEO Wright Lassiter, who replaced former chief executive Lloyd Dean after his retirement last year.
Prior to joining CommonSpirit, Richardson served as the chief operating officer at Ardent Health Services in Tennessee, overseeing operations at the system’s 30 hospitals and 200 care sites. She also spent 14 years with HCA Healthcare in various leadership positions, according to a release.
