Name: Jason Owen
Previous title: President and CEO, BlueSprig
New title: President and CEO, Envision Healthcare
Owen takes the reins at Envision effective this week, months after the physician staffing firm emerged from bankruptcy restructuring.
Owen, who will also serve as member of Envision’s board of directors, joins the company from BlueSprig, which provides applied behavior analysis therapy for children with autism. He previously worked as president of operations at Aveanna Healthcare, a home health and hospice company.
Henry Howe, who served as interim CEO since December, will continue to work as the physician staffing firm’s chief financial officer. He took on the interim role after former CEO Jim Rechtin left the company to join insurer Humana.
The appointment comes after a period of financial turbulence for Envision. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy nearly a year ago, citing billions in debt obligations, declining patient volumes and the rocky implementation of the No Surprises Act, a law that aims to protect patients from unexpected medical bills.
The company emerged from restructuring in November, saying it had reduced its debt by more than 70%. Envision also split from its ambulatory surgery unit Amsurg.
